Jeez, Mike. That sucks. More scrambled eggs on the x-ray? I’ve been trying to get pneumonia vaccinations myself, but I skipped last year due to pregnancy.
That really does suck. Feel better soon!
Take care of yourself, friend.
Shit! Are you resting a LOT? You better be. xoxo.
Thanks, y’all. I haven’t felt this weak or bad since I had appendicitis, and even then I could breathe. Now it’s shallow half-breaths, gasping or flushed when I walk up stairs or change positions too quickly. So, yes, Margs, I’m resting a lot, and moving at zombie speeds. I love the doctor’s description of the super-antibiotic Augmentin that he’s given me; apparently it’s pretty close to amoxycillin, except with some sort of chemical twist that’ll let it circulate through my system three or four times, rather than just once-and-out. I’m not as happy with the other prescription, the codeine-enhanced super-Robo, but mostly because it always makes me so woozy that I can’t gauge how effective a cough suppressant it is compared to the dextromethorphan in the regular stuff. And besides, doesn’t that drug name mean “right-handed homeless speed freak child”? Just when you thought the pharmaceutical industry couldn’t get any more evil.
The other thing I don’t like about the codeine is that it tightens me up rather than loosens me out; like, it spins me way deep into stuff, rather than letting me let go and sleep, so I’ll be trying to go to sleep but also trying to figure out jellyfish, and why I should be concerned about jellyfish this week, and how they relate to the great black bird trailing behind him the ragged banner of sleep, but this jellyfish thing is really important.
Tell your cats I said they need to take care of you better!
Get well soon!
Goodness, Mike. I’m so sorry to hear about this. Sending good wishes for your recovery!
That really sucks, I feel bad for you. Hope the dr.s have been taking good care of you. Sorry I haven’t called for a while, just realized that your number died with my old phone and I hadn’t taken measures to retrieve it. All the baltimorons will spite for this, but for you “Go Steelers!” and how about them redskins. Should be an interesting season. Get some rest, drink kambucha and OJ and whatever else works nowadays. I’ll be calling soon, get well,
I’m wishing you speedy relief from the lung yuck but those weird dreamy thoughts make such good reading I’m selfishly wanting to hear more about the jellyfish. (Tho’ if you’re sick of them, well, I guess I’ll let it go.) Warm steamy sweet tea and miso broth with ginger. Hope your cats can boil water.
I’m hoping that you have a friend, colleague or neighbor who can get to the store for you and stock up on soup, kleenex and kibble (and kitty litter).
Hey Mike, sorry to hear about you getting sick. I’ve never had pneumonia, but a bad flu a few years back was enough of a reminder of how human and powerless sometimes we can be in the face of illness. Hang in there, and it will get better.
